What are Natural Remedies and Therapies...
Natural Remedies are remedies made from plants, animals and substances that can be found in the wild. They are the constituents of these substances that have been utilized into a form that can be ingested, applied topically, or diffused to facilitate the body, mind, spirit healing that natural medicine has to offer.
Herbs are plants and plant parts including roots, leaves, bark, stems, flowers, and seeds. They can be mixed with alcohol, usually vodka or brandy or apple cider vinegar, or vegetable glycerin to make a tincture, tonic, or spray. They can be steam distilled to produce essential oils that can be diffused and clean of toxins, dyes, and chemicals that are harmful to humans and animals. They can be dried or fresh, such as oregano, basil, lavender, etc. They can be used in cooking to flavor foods or made into a poultice to extract a toxin from the body. Herbs can be ground into a powder and mixed into other things like food and drink or put into vegetable capsules and taken as a supplement. They can be a loose-leaf tea or made into bags for easy portability.
Homeopathy goes beyond plants and can utilize animal matter. Homeopathy is a super DILUTED form of the original substance. The dilution is so great that the original substance is no longer present when tested, but the energy of that substance holds to the water molecules. The substance is then placed onto sugar tablets or pellets and taken sublingually, or in tincture form. The dosage depends on each person and their particular issue. Homeopathy is so safe that pregnant women and babies can ingest it. An example of this is Calcarea Carbonica is made from the shell of an oyster. When it is tested, there isn’t any trace of oyster shell, but the energy of the medicine is held in the water. It is excellent for rebalancing hormones by the way.
Food is medicine in the world of natural remedies. Food can either build the body back up from depletion, injury, or issue, or it can cause inflammation, pain, and damage organs, tissues, and bones. Nutrition is the building block of every cell in our bodies, and it needs certain raw materials to function properly. Food cravings are the body’s way of asking for the nutrients. An example is chocolate. Many women crave chocolate around their monthly times. Chocolate is high in magnesium. By giving the body, a magnesium supplement during the PMS time of their cycle, they can reduce or eliminate the craving and the sugar roller coaster that accompanies it. Excess weight on the body is a symptom of macronutrient imbalances coupled with micronutrient deficiencies. Sometimes medications can cause this too. Giving the body solid nutrition means it builds solid cells and is less likely to be sick and less severe when it does catch something. It also means it is less likely to turn on itself and create an autoimmune disorder.
Natural therapies are techniques that a naturopathic practitioner can apply to the body such as craniosacral, reflexology, and reiki. They can also include activities that help build or rebuild muscle, tone, bone strength, and mind/body connections such as Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and Yoga. These allow the body and mind to connect and many use them to deepen their connection with Source or the Universe.
Mind, Body, Spirit connection is the foundation of natural healing, and a naturopathic practitioner addresses all of it based on different cultures and beliefs. They recognize all people and cultures and spiritual/religious beliefs and help one deepen their connection with their Source, Spirit Guides, Angels, God, Goddess, whatever that means to you
